What makes it different

Five pillars, every single class.

Real fluency isn't built in one dimension. Every Brighton GO lesson works all five together, guided live by your teacher — never left for you to figure out alone.

Writing

Guided composition, corrected live — not silent solo worksheets.

Reading

Character roles, read aloud, comprehension checked in real time.

Listening

Real Student videos and native audio, always followed by live discussion.

Speaking

Breakout rooms in groups of 3–4, every single class, no exceptions.

Play

Kahoot and Wordwall built into every lesson — because fluency needs interaction.

All five. Every class. Never one pillar at a time — always woven together, live.
How we teach

Structured and guided. Never self-paced.

An app can hand you a lesson. It can't run a breakout room, correct your pronunciation, or notice you're stuck. That's the whole difference.

Brighton GO

  • Live, teacher-led Zoom classes on a fixed schedule
  • Every "individual" exercise still taught live, with the whole group
  • Pair and group work in real Zoom breakout rooms, every class
  • Grammar taught by elicit → explain → annotate live on-screen
  • A teacher who sees you, corrects you, and keeps you accountable

A typical language app

  • Self-paced, self-directed, easy to abandon
  • No teacher to correct pronunciation or catch mistakes
  • No live conversation practice with real people
  • No accountability, no fixed schedule, no group
  • Progress you can't actually verify
See the difference

How Brighton GO stacks up.

There are really only three ways to learn English right now. Here's how they actually compare.

Inside a class

What a Brighton GO lesson actually looks like.

01

Teacher's screen stays shared, book page visible

Your class follows the course page in real time — you always know exactly where you are.

02

Grammar: elicit, explain, annotate

Your teacher draws the pattern out of the group first, explains the rule, then marks it up live using Zoom's annotate tool.

03

Reading, in character

Students take on distinct roles to read dialogues aloud, with pronunciation corrected as you go — then comprehension checked together.

04

Speaking: watch, prep, breakout

A short "Real Student" video sets up the task, a moment of silent prep, then straight into Zoom breakout rooms of 3–4.

05

Close with Kahoot, then homework

Every lesson ends with a live Kahoot quiz built from that day's content — and a homework announcement pointing you to your Cambridge One workbook.

Elicit Explain Annotate
Why "elicit first" matters

Students remember the rule better when they find the pattern themselves — the teacher only confirms and annotates it afterward.

Question 7 of 15

She ___ to work by bus every day.

How the course runs

  • Every class covers one full lesson, taught live by your teacher on Zoom
  • Grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, listening, and speaking — all in one session, every time
  • Extra games and activities layered on top of the book, because a textbook alone isn't enough
  • Digital Cambridge One workbook homework after every class
  • A quiz at the end of every unit to confirm what's actually sticking

Built on real partners

The standard — and the tools — behind every class.

We teach with Cambridge University Press's own course materials, not a homemade curriculum. Kahoot and Wordwall aren't formal partners — they're simply platforms our teachers use to bring vocabulary and grammar practice to life.

Questions

Frequently asked questions.

The things most people want to know before their first class.

No. Every class is live and teacher-led on a fixed schedule. There's no "whenever you feel like it" — a real teacher runs the class, corrects you, and keeps you moving forward.

No. A short placement test places you exactly where your English stands today, so you never repeat what you already know and never get thrown in over your head.

Every class is recorded, so you can go back and review it. Recordings stay available throughout your course — they're not kept indefinitely, so it's best to catch up promptly.

English is the norm in every class. Spanish is only used as an occasional, teacher-managed exception when something truly needs clarifying — then it's straight back to English.

There's no single make-or-break exam. Your progress is tracked through your Cambridge One activities, class participation, and quizzes along the way — every class contributes.

Take the placement test above. Our team gets a notification the moment you finish, and follows up personally to book your first class at the right level.
